    Part of the original 8,800-acre Stanford land donation, the shopping center was developed as a means of generating revenue for the university after World War II. Constructed where Leland Stanford’s vineyards once grew, the first store, The Roos Brothers, opened in 1955, and in 1977, it became home to the first incarnation of Victoria’s Secret.
