Deceptive descriptions lead to disappointment
Hotel Parmani is not a boutique hotel. In fact, it is not a hotel at all. It is a modestly refurbished motel on a busy street. I'm not sure wha justifies the "boutique" description. Had the website given a more accurate depiction of the hotel, our stay would have been less disappointing. The room was spotlessly clean. It had relatively new carpeting, a retiled shower and new bedding. Everything else is quite old and dingy. The bathroom vanity had a rusted in-vanity metal tissue holder that actually fell out of the vanity in the middle of the night, the mirror is rusted and peeling and the paint is crumbling. The room had an open closet and an ironing board hung on the wall, The microwave is ancient. The air conditioning is an extremely noisy wall unit. The motel is slated for redevelopment according to a notice in the front office so it seems like the current owners are no longer investing in the upkeep. You will need a car. The Parmani is walkable to one restaurant -- a fish joint next door and a McDonald's a block away from that. Stanford and the downtown area is about two miles away. They do offer a little breakfast -- toast, cereal, juice and coffee -- in the office. There is no breakfast area so you need to take the food back to your room. That said, hotels in Palo Alto can be extremely expensive so this is an adequate budget option -- just understand what you will get for your $200. The staff is also wonderfully friendly and nice

Not far from the medical center. Unassuming hotel. OK for a short stay. Person at the desk was very helpful and courteous. Breakfast was modest but OK. There is some covered parking which was great since it was a rainy day

It's a motel
This is a motel, nothing more or less. Clean, no frills, not really what we expected from a highly rated expensive property in Palo Alto. Night clerk refused to give us extra sheets. The two queen bed room was relatively good value for our family. Second floor outside railing was low and seemed kind of dangerous. Our friends said the Comfort Inn was worse so I guess the bar may be low. Best attribute is location, right in downtown and close to campus

Very good value for the Palo Alto area
We had medical appointments at Stanford. This hotel was very convenient. We found the room to be large, well maintained, quiet and the heating worked well. All in all it was a good experience. There are many places near by to eat or shop, if you need something. I would recommend this hotel. For the price it was very good
